United States Capitol Visitor Center

The new United States Capitol Visitor Center is finally up and running.

Years late and hundreds of millions over budget, it is now open to a select number of visitors(those with permits) during normal working hours of the federal government, or about three weeks a year.

I do recall seeing a photo if it some years ago during it's initial construction phases. Looked like they were digging a hole to China, far deeper than required for just an underground visitor center. According to news releases, the center consists of three under-ground levels: a balcony level entrance, the Emancipation Hall (second) level and a third restricted level for new Congressional offices and meeting rooms.

Third restricted level... you bet.

My money is on the idea that this "third restricted level" is another congressional shelter like the one they had under that hotel, the posh Greenbrier hotel in White Sulphur Springs, W. Va., with the same massive blast doors, emergency supplies of all manner, kitchens, bunks, Private rooms to play with the pages, you know... the usual stuff we provide for our fine national representatives.

Obviously, this place will not protect anybody from a direct nuclear hit on Washington, so this new shelter must be to protect Congress from us, perhaps in the event of a rebellion, where angry Americans might just be running around loose in Washington looking for those crooks, thieves and traitors that have been selling us, our jobs, and our futures down the river for years.

Hope they have a lot of food and water stored down in there. And showers - lots of showers - Harry Reid has a sensitive nose.
