The Unity Convention

Something called the Unity Convention is meeting in Chicago right this minute. According to CNN, it is a gathering of African Americans, Mexican Americans, Asians, and Native Americans. Glaringly missing from this collection of "Americans" is White Americans, except for Susan Malveaux, CNN's twittering interviewer of Barak Obama, who was a guest of honor at this shindig.

Susan Malveaux's fawning over Obama was just plain embarrassing, but not the subject of this piece. The subject is one of those minority groups, those "Native" Americans, the ones living out their dismal lives on several hundred small but independent "Sovereign Nations" scattered around the United States.

Obama said he was most concerned about those poor Indians, who - according to him -have the highest poverty rate, the highest drug abuse and the highest unemployment - of any group in America.

So he wants an annual meeting with all the Chiefs of all those little-bitty Sovereign nations inside our borders, so they can "talk" about what to do.

Did you know that if an Indian chooses to stay on the reservation(their little sovereign nation), the American taxpayer will support him his entire life? Geronimo won't have to lift a finger to support himself. He has total federal government support from birth to death, all paid for by us taxpayers. All he has to do is stay on the reservation. He'll get free medical and dental. They have their very own hospitals, free glasses, free doctor visits. They even have their very own schools and colleges - all free - and all provided by the taxpayer. Good luck trying to get your kid into one of them. Included in this Socialist Utopian package is also an all-paid education through college, again paid for by the taxpayers.

These people, these lifelong dependents of government largess, have - according to Obama - the highest poverty rate, the highest drug abuse and the highest unemployment in America.

And no wonder. They are not required to lift a finger to survive. Uncle Sam has taken care of it all. Do that to any sub-group and they will end up the same. No incentive, no reason to excel. So they sit on their asses, drink themselves into a stupor, chew on their peyote and occasionally go herd some sheep. Every now and then, the younger ones go hop on a horse(not native American) and play pretend warrior.

They exist in a world of total dependence. No wonder they - as a race - have failed so utterly. Most of the few who do take advantage of their free education end up in Washington, lobbying for more handouts, remaining true to their heritage, that of blood-sucking leeches.

One must assume that the Indians have never figured it out, that the official U. S. Government position was - and is - to keep them down on the reservation and totally dependent on handouts. That would keep them in line. It has worked quite well.

However, credit where credit is due, some Indians are actually trying to break this vicious cycle of dependence and poverty, an uphill battle if ever there was one. They just need to realize that they can't have it both ways.

Then there are the rest of the American "whatevers" at that convention. Just as bad, just as grasping, just as demanding. but take note of what CNN said about Asians... they said "Asians", not "American Asians".

I suppose that's because even CNN realizes that most Asians have a totally different work ethic. They generally believe that hard work is the best way to get what they want, but are not above snatching up any of those freebies that stupid old Uncle is so fond of passing out.

As long as we keep passing out all these goodies - nationally and internationally - there will be a long line of opportunists with their hands out, more than willing to bleed us dry... and walk off laughing.

Want to return the Indian to his former status and glory? Get rid of the reservations, they are sinkholes of suppression and despair. Make them full U.S. citizens just like the rest of us, work-for-a-living and taxpaying property owners. Enough of this "Till the rivers run dry" treaty crap.

It's really that simple.
