Just watched the president make a big hoo-ra speech about how we're in tough times, but how everything is going to work out just fine. At the same time, CNN had a small window in the lower right corner of the TV showing the stock market nose diving, live and in color.
Bush's solutions to everything?
Better mortgage legislation.
Better trade legislation.
Better energy legislation.
Better banking legislation.
Bush's answer? Better regulation.
And about his wars? His solution is more money - vast amounts of money without any strings attached - and NO Congressional oversight.
And - of course - he blamed the Democrats in Congress for all our problems, for not passing all that "better legislation", for not passing all those bills to finance his public war in Afghanistan, his private war in Iraq, and his attempts to start up another war in Iran... without asking any questions.
According to Bush, better legislation will solve the energy crisis, the cost of crude oil, the cost of gasoline. Better legislation will solve the inconvenience of two million American families losing their homes. Better legislation will eliminate greed and avarice in the banking industry. Better legislation will solve our disastrous trade imbalance with the rest of the world. We will win the war on terror by providing limitless and unaccountable money, by allowing him to pick yet another fight or two with anybody he dislikes. What the hell, why not? it's our kids dying in those desert sands, not his.
Watching Bush talk is a lot like shoving your finger down your throat. Both activities make you want to puke.
