VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - In the latest Vatican broadside against "The Da Vinci Code", a leading cardinal says Christians should respond to the book and film with legal action because both offend Christ and the Church he founded. The book was a work of fiction. The movie was based on the book. The Cardinal's assault is based on ignorance of these facts.
Cardinal Francis Arinze, a Nigerian who was considered a candidate for pope last year, made his strong comments in a documentary called "The Da Vinci Code-A Masterful Deception."
Seems to me that this Cardinal has way too much time on his hands if he has the time to read the book, watch the movie, get insulted, and demand legal retaliation.
He is from Nigeria. Maybe Bush should send in a few thousand marines, blow up everything, kill 30,000 Nigerians or so, spend a half-trillion dollars to install his pitiful style of "democracy", declare that major combat is over, and then announce that the world has become a safer place... for fiction writers.
