Go Vegas!

I was just watching a rather heated discussion between a guy that is pro Nevada/Las Vegas and the rest of a panel of political hacks that - publicly - disagree with Nevada's methods of raising money by taxing legalized gambling and prostitution.

It can be argued - and shown - that both gambling and prostitution have been with us longer than any of today's various brands of religion that so adamantly condemn their existence. The citizens of Nevada recognized that about the habits of humanity and decided decades ago to raise a bit of revenue from them to benefit themselves and their state.

No doubt the millions and millions of past and present Vegas customers have no problem with that approach. Some even feel that their "vices" are helping the economy in some small way... perhaps in a bit larger way... if they use Extenze.

None of that is my central point today, its all background.

The Vegas guy said something that really struck home with me.

He asked the rest of that pontificating panel, "What's the difference between Washington D.C. and Vegas?"
The difference between Washington D.C. and Vegas is that the drunks in Vegas gamble with their own money.
Hard to dispute that.

He could have easily - and truthfully - added "whoring old men" to the drunks, and still be 100% accurate.
