Our Last Shot At Mars

NASA's 2.5 billion dollar rover is about to reach Mars and make what can only be described as a Rube Goldberg landing. Be that as it may, I wish them all the best.

Preparations have been made for everyone to watch the landing live on National TV.

That makes me a bit nervous, since the last time we did that, we lost a school teacher,  a shuttle and two years or exploration.

No matter the results of the upcoming landing, this rover mission won't be the cause of our  losing  anymore equipment or exploration effort, because Obama and his hive of sonsabitches in the White House have canceled all future mars exploration missions and all future manned missions.

Therefore, I propose one more manned mission:

A mission manned by Axlerod, Ayers, Dohrn,  both Obamas, Jarrett, Pelosi, Reid, Jones and a few more crew members to be picked from Congress, a mission to closely explore the coronasphere of the sun.

Of course, we would all wish them bon voyage.

UPDATE:

The landing was a huge success. After all, Rube Goldberg's contraptions did work when the engneering was sound. We can now look forward to about five years of data from this rover.

Actually, it has a nuclear power source to provide the 1.21 gigawatts of electricity we need!

OK, maybe not that much. The Curiosity's RTG will generate about 250W of power and in 15 years, still more than 100W. So we'll have way more than five years of data from it. If they can keep it from getting stuck, that thing will keep working for a LONG time.
