Worth Re-Posting

Since the Middle East is starting to hit the headlines again, I'm re-posting the below map just to remind us all that in 1948 the United Nations passed UN Resolution 181 destroying one State and creating another, an action that has resulted in numerous wars, cost  hundreds of thousands of lives and billions and billions of dollars. There were 33 votes in favor of creating the new Israeli State in the then existent Palestine, 13 votes against,  with 10 abstentions and 1 absent.

Imagine that. 33 UN representatives voted  this 64 years of misery into existence. Those 33 are all dead and gone - and will never have to face the consequences of their actions.
They left that up to us.

For those of you who believe there never was a Palestine... Full of Palestinian villages and people, look at the map below, printed in 1838:

(left-click to enlarge)

This was - of course - ten years before UN Resolution 181 in which the UN dissolved Palestine and created today's Israel in it's place.

The map is bigger than my scanner , so I had to cut off the bottom of the map. sorry 'bout that.

Excuse me isn’t your map from 110 years before the UN resolution and not 10 years?
Perhaps this is just a typo.

10, or 110, or 1,110 years is not the point here.

The point is there once was a Palestine State in which the Palestiian people lived and went about their lives... before the UN eliminated it and replaced it with the present Israeli State.
