The above is a video of the last journey of the spacecraft Endeavour.
The shuttle was - and still is - one of the greatest monuments to mankind's desire to learn, to discover, to understand.
Better it had burned up in re-entry than be dragged through the streets of Los Angeles and be jammed into a hastily-tacked together tin box. where it will gather dust and be noted only occasionally by historians.
If I had tears, I would cry.
But I do understand now why Howard Hughes wanted to save his greatest accomplishment for future generations.
Little did he know that future generations would not give a damn about his incredible flying lumber yard.
