Panda May Go The Way Of The Dodo

Around ninety percent of Chain's Pandas are threatened by the recent massive earthquakes, somewhere around 1,400 animals.

That suggests that the total population of Pandas is in the neighborhood of 1,600 individuals, an animal that is so specialized that it can eat only certain kinds of bamboo. This kind of specialization - and non-adaptability - has guaranteed other once-thriving species total extinction as conditions changed in their environment.

Some unusual pandas - we are told - have been known to eat other foods such as honey, eggs, fish, yams, shrub leaves, oranges and bananas when available, but not the general population, which eats only bamboo 99% of the time.

It would seem that a worldwide population of 1,600 animals that can survive on only one kind of food source is definitely near the top of mother natures "goodbye" list.

With millions of people in peril and billions in property damage and infrastructure destruction to be concerned with, Pandas are no doubt not high on the Chinese government's list of things to help.

We may see the end of this species quite soon.
