Mom Of The Year

Hard to comprehend:

A woman accused of locking her young son in the attic of her De Soto home will stand trial on charges of child abuse and attempted second-degree murder. Johnson County District Judge Peter Ruddick ordered Rachel Perez, 27, to stand trial on a third charge, aggravated child endangerment.

Perez was charged last August after Johnson County sheriff’s deputies discovered her then 6-year-old son confined to the attic. Prosecutors said the 20-pound boy, who has Down syndrome, was severely malnourished and covered in fecal matter.

This feral beast also had two other children whom she apparently treated a bit better. At least they were not locked in the attic and were fed occasionally.

What do we do with people like this? Putting them away for life at a typical cost of around $100,000 a year is not a solution.

Since Ms. Perez apparently attached no value to her sons life, perhaps we should do the same to her.

She is going to die eventually - we all will - let's just help her along with the process, and then give her children the opportunity to find good homes with caring parents.

They deserve no less.

Our Constitution guarantees us all "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". This woman deprived her son of liberty and any kind of happiness, and according to the doctors who examined the boy, was twenty-fours hours away from depriving him of life.

Sick, sick, sick.
