How About That

Who would have guessed:
Revised projections now show that about 23,000 workers at and around Kennedy Space Center will lose their jobs because of the shuttles' retirement and the new proposal to cancel the development of new rockets and spacecraft.
What's not in the article is how many of those jobs were truly ever needed - actually critical - to NASA's prime directive to launch spacecraft.

My guess would be that NASA is trying to hang on to the people in critical positions, but then I still have trouble accepting the fact that the bureaucrats in any organization, the blood-sucking leeches that generally accomplish little or nothing, are usually the ones in a position to do all the firing, while keeping their own little niche safe and snug.

So my optional second guess is that the Kennedy space center will soon be just another place full of non-productive leeches.
