First?

Russia claims to be leading in the race to complete a manned mission to Mars and could land a Russian on the Red Planet by 2025, a leading scientist was quoted as saying on Tuesday.
Says the director of the prestigious Space Research Institute, Lev Zelyony:
We have something of a head start in this race as we have the most experience in piloted space flight.
They also have the most experience in killing astronauts, called "cosmonauts" by the Ruskies, because of their tendency to not pay much attention to the tiny little details that turn out to be real killers later on.

If they do launch the first manned attempt at Mars. wish them luck, but be ready for some unintended consequences.
