Our media people... the joke's on them
From Wikipedia:
In political jargon, useful idiot is a pejorative term for people perceived as propagandists for a cause whose goals they do not understand, and who are used cynically by the leaders of the cause.
After mulling it over for a time, I have concluded that the term "Useful Idiots" more accurately describes our mainstream media than any other term.
Generally college educated, often a standard deviation or two above the norm, these people consider themselves to be smarter, brighter and far more intelligent than ordinary humans. But they have one glaring and fatal blind spot... They haven't studied history, at least the part of history that will affect them.
They are indeed useful idiots in the promoting of all the Progressive/Socialist causes being championed by the likes of Obama, Jarret, Ayers and others. History - which the media is ignoring - has shown us that it is these above-average media types are the first to be rounded up and eliminated, for the very fact that they instantly become serious threats to the new power structure they helped to create. Very few of them will survive, although most of them believe they will be one of the few lucky ones.
How so? Should they wake up to the evils of their new reality, it is assumed they will use their skills and the power of the press to combat the leaders they once admired.
Whether or not they would actually ever wake up matters not. Whether or not they continue to fawn endlessly over the new regime they helped to create matters not.
They become a threat - real or imagined matters not - to the power structure, enough of a threat to have them rounded up and eliminated: Killed, jailed, re-educated... it matters not.
Just like in the Movie "The Dark Knight", in which the Joker kills his fellow bank robbers outright - they were potential problems and totally unnecessary - after the bank had been robbed.
Consider Obama as the Joker in this scenario, and the media as his fellow criminals.
Wait and see.

You nailed it.
Yeah, they think their new owners will pat them on the head and maybe throw them a few scraps from the table.
But...
"Why is the new owner loading his shotgun and leading me behind the barn?"
It makes perfect sense:
It may have been Stalin, but more likely Lenin who postulated "They subverted their own country; they would subvert ours, hence the purges."
And lest we forget, many of them are Khazars and wealthy - added incentive.
