Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Tuesday the Bush administration explicitly warned former President Jimmy Carter against meeting with members of Hamas, the Palestinian faction that controls the Gaza Strip and which is regarded by the U.S. as a terror group.Damn. Somebody tries to get some form of communication going with an adversary in the middle East, and this Bush lightweight gets all bent out of shape. Well, maybe she's just parroting Bush, supporting his inability to talk to anybody.
We talked endlessly with the Russians during the cold war, a real adversary. Now why all of a sudden is talking with another adversary - a small time one at that - such a crime?
Or maybe it's just another expression of the Israeli lobby's influence in our government, demonstrating Israel's desire not to have us recognize any of the enemies they have created.
